Green Tea

My friend e-mailed me in PowerPoint illustration which suggests that drinking 3 to 4 cups of green tea can help in a long list of different health conditions. I tell myself that I consider myself doing well if I can drink just one cup a day. I'm not much of a tea or coffee person but since a friend has presented me with some good green tea, I have started drinking it.

How many cups are recommended? It depends who is answering your question. Studies seem to suggest 4 to 5 cups but those who are in the business of selling green tea may recommend 10 cups a day.

In summary green tea is reputed to be helpful in the following medical conditions:-
1) cancer
2) rheumetoid arthritis
3) high cholesterol
4) cardio vascular disease
5) infection
6) impaired immune system

The only reported negative side effect from drinking green tea is probably insomnia. I must add that in my own opinion, I am always worried about the staining of my teeth. Does anyone know of any easy way to control teeth staining from tea?

I have yet to try green tea ice cream. I think it must be good.

mariuca,
I read that coffee have been formulated as alternative health treatment. Anyway, coffee and tea are both very popular the world over.

omega,
Wow! There are so many flavors. You won't get bored. It's interesting to try something different every day.

I'm a tea person and I love my teh si. Green tea or any Chinese tea is good for our health, I don't have this teeth staining problem though. But drinking more than 3 cups of tea would give me insomnia. :)

maruica,
Hola, I will do the tag when I find some time soon. Thanks.

mekurukito,
I think it is a good idea to drink green tea in the morning so that you will be able to sleep by night time.

ECL,
You are so lucky that you don't have teeth staining problem from drinking tea.

I think teh si is better than tea bags.

Normally I don't have insomnia from tea or coffee caffeine. But recently I couldn't sleep after drinking 2 cups before bedtime. I will try to do it in the early morning and see how it goes.

Jesie,
I love my tea and I love my coffee. I drink coffee on the weekends and copius amount of green tea in weekdays. I love my chinese tea too, but yet to learn all their names. :P
Green tea ice cream - some I like, depending on which place and whether it is accompanied with sweet red bean. The Haagen Dazs variety is not for me, though. :-(

Lina,
It's good that you love tea and coffee for they have their benefits too. My brother said Taiwan promoted drinking coffee when he lived there.

LOL, I have yet to try green tea ice cream.

I think you are better than me anytime in knowing the Chinese tea names. I seldom drink Chinese tea and I do not know much on what is out there.

I just gave away a Starbucks gift card which I received from my employer because I don't know much about coffee flavor or taste. Shame on me.
